Education Committee – BAcC member

Vacancy for a current BAcC member with an interest in the development and quality of acupuncture education.

We are looking for someone who can:

• contribute constructively to discussion and decision-making

• consider different perspectives and exercise independent judgement

• engage with educational standards, policy and accreditation matters

• act in the public interest and in the best interests of the BAcC and the profession, rather than representing an individual organisation or institution.

 

Accreditation Committee – Education professional

Vacancy for an education professional with experience of accreditation activity and/or health.

We are looking for someone who:

• has a professional background in education

• has experience of accreditation activity or processes

• can critically assess information and evidence

• understands the importance of fair, consistent and transparent processes

• can exercise independent judgement and manage potential conflicts of interest

• can bring an informed perspective from outside acupuncture.

 

Experience in professional education, quality assurance, academic standards or accreditation would be particularly relevant.

 

Accreditation Committee – Patient/service-user representative

Vacancy for a lay representative who can bring the perspective of patients and service users to the accreditation process.

You do not need professional or academic experience in acupuncture, education or accreditation. We are looking for someone who:

• can bring a thoughtful patient/service-user and public-interest perspective

• is confident contributing to discussions and asking questions

• can listen to and consider different viewpoints

• can exercise independent judgement

• is interested in how systems and processes support fair, effective and transparent decision-making.

 

Experience or an interest in quality, governance, legal or financial matters would be welcome but is not essential.

 

What all committee members contribute

All members are expected to:

• prepare for and participate fully in meetings

• contribute constructively and respectfully

• consider evidence and different perspectives

• maintain confidentiality

• declare and manage conflicts of interest

• act in the public interest and in the best interests of the BAcC and the profession.

 

We value diversity of experience and perspective and recognise that people will bring different strengths to these roles.

 

Time commitment and remuneration

Appointments are for up to three years, with the possibility of a further three-year term, subject to the relevant criteria being met. The committees meet three times a year. One meeting each year is held in person, at a central London location, with the remaining meetings held online. Applicants should therefore be comfortable participating effectively by videoconference.

 

Committee members receive:

• £75 for pre-reading

• £75–£150 for attendance, depending on whether the meeting or activity is a half or full day. Most meetings are half-day.
