Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic.Ac.)

Course covers all aspects of Traditional Chinese acupuncture theory, as set out in the BAcC education guideline, with a focus on the five elements. It is specifically designed and structured with busy people in mind, using fully integrated and supported e-learning so that class weekends (focusing on practical skills development) are fewer than at comparable institutions. Because of this, you can really balance studying and work/family commitments.  Oh, and we have a 96% student satisfaction rating! We recruit two intakes a year, to start in Spring and Autumn.

Our innovative BSc (Hons) Acupuncture degree course combines the two main Chinese Medicine traditions - Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine - in one integrated style. In addition, you can study at weekends or weekdays and our course provides you with the advantages of a blend of face-to-face learning for practical subjects with online learning for theory. In our student clinic, you will treat patients with a wide range of conditions affecting body, mind, and spirit. Our aim is that you become a confident and competent practitioner. We’re situated in a beautiful Georgian listed building in Reading and having opened our doors in 1993 we now have over 1,200 graduates.

ICOM is the UK’s oldest acupuncture College. Founded by Dr Van Buren in 1972, it is a vibrant student-centred learning institution led by a group of dedicated and passionate teacher-acupuncturists. Our degree level Licentiate in Acupuncture immerses students in the Chinese Medical and Philosophical classics. A broad and deep curriculum cultivates an adeptness and confidence in students to practise all the main styles of acupuncture. ICOM is a small college and in it lies our strength. This exciting and innovative degree teaches acupuncture in a contemporary framework and fully encompasses the concept of ‘holism’. The course provides a comprehensive education and training in the principals and practice of acupuncture, the traditional way of understanding of the nature of illness, alongside health science disciplines. It is integrative in approach, linking traditional Chinese medicine with modern science and holism.

Acupuncture BSc (Hons) Acupuncture MSc

The NCA (est.1988) is the only BAAB registered College in the North, and deeply rooted in the practices of traditional Chinese medicine. We offer a BSc in Acupuncture Three Year (full-time) course or a Four Year (part-time) course with weekday or weekend options, starting in September. Students get “hands-on” in our busy teaching clinics right from the first term, and our courses are taught via a blend of in-College practical classes and online theory classes, e-learning and clinical practice in our teaching clinics.  Students can access government student loans, with funding available to existing degree holders on our part time course. Our students awarded us 100% for overall satisfaction in the 2022 NSS survey.
